DRIED MEDICINAL MUSHROOMS

Chaga Inonotus obliquus, cut for tea, certified organic. Chaga has been used in Russia as a folk medicine since the 16th century. It is used for the treatment of cancer, diabetes, stomach ailments and blood disorders as well as for common stomach ailments such as gastritis, ulcers and general pain. And it is antibacterial and antiviral. Nobel Prize winning author Alexandr Solzhenitsyn credits Chaga with curing his cancer.

Chaga Tea may be made in a coffee percolator. Or it can infused in boiling water for 15 minutes.

Dried mushrooms can be reconstituted by soaking in cold water for a few hours or hot water for 5-20 minutes depending on the species. 1 ounce of dried mushrooms will yield 9 to 10 ounces of reconstituted mushrooms. Besides having medicinal properties, mushrooms can become a culinary delight. We offer the following:

MaitakeGrifola frondosa, pieces, certified organic. The Shogun’s favorite. Great for stir fry – absorbs less oil. Meaty with a bold and nutty flavor.

Red ReishiGanoderma lucidum, whole, certified organic. Woody, slightly bitter - not recommended for usual dishes. Make tea, wine or brandy tonic or soup.

ShiitakeLentinula edodes, whole, certified organic. Enhances the flavor of most foods or cooked by itself. Soak in boiling or hot water for 20 minutes. Save or use the liquid too.
