Why We Don't Display Our Phone Number

I have a physical ailment which affects my balance and speech.

The balance problem results in taking extra time to package orders and to get from Point A to Point B.

The speech problem results in not being easily understood and becoming easily fatigued, although sometimes it is not so bad.

When I had the phone number listed:

1) The phone would ring. I would stop what I was doing and try to make my way to the phone. Many times the caller hung up before I picked up the phone. Then I would go back to what I was doing. This would sometimes happen 3 or 4 times a day.

2) If I got to the phone and picked up, sometimes it would be someone trying to sell me something or asking for a donation.

3) Sometimes it would be someone who wants to know a real person is here or maybe they just want to chat.

4) Although it is said "There is no such thing as a stupid question", sometimes I wonder.

5) Sometimes I would get up to 10 calls a day, mostly during the limited time I have to fulfill orders.

Now that I have removed the phone number:

1) I get much less calls.

2) I don't usually answer the phone until after 4 pm.

3) I work right through 3:30 so my wife can get the packages to the Post Office. Then I have lunch.

4) I am able to get more orders out each day.
