Beware of Telemarketers A telemarketer who has "purchased" a list from a former company you formerly dealt with, is not allowed to call you if you are on the "do not call list". Some "new" guys on the block are using that ploy and are violating the "do not call" law. This has been confirmed by the Attorney General's Office in New Hampshire who contacted me about a company who shall remain nameless. If you are contacted by a telemarketer who claims he can call you all he wants because you were a former customer of a company that sold their customer list, contact your state Attorney General's Office. You might be entitled to some of the fine. They are violating the law in addition to annoying you. One of our clients told me they received 10 telemarketer calls from the same company within 2 months and they finally contacted the Colorado Attorney General's Office. If you are fast-talked by a telemarketer into purchasing something you do not want, you have 10 days to cancel that order because they contacted you. You can always dispute the credit card charges with your card issuer. Many of these telemarketers prey on the elderly and uninformed. Some of these telemarketers are hired off the street. They have no background checks and they have access to your credit card number and personal information. Some of them are in half-way houses and some of them telemarket to support their drug habits. They have no knowledge of the product they are selling and make empty claims such as "you never have to pump your septic tank again" and "the water from your septic system will be so clean you can drink it". They will say anything and promise everything to get that sale and a hefty commission. We have no salesmen or receptionists. My wife Marie and I are the only ones with your personal and credit card information. We keep your privacy PRIVATE. No renting, selling or third party borrowing. No one even gets a "peek".
