The reason I started using Flush-it was that my Septic system contractor told me about 6 years ago that my system was in poor condition (tremendous slime build up) and that I may need expensive repairs. About six years ago, I purchased our home in the country. It had been decades since I had a home with a septic, and I was a little apprehensive about the maintenance. Three years later, I had to hire a firm to pump our septic, as the treatment I had used was obviously ineffective.
Not wishing to repeat that expense on a regular basis, I began the search for a treatment product. While all have claims, I was skeptical that any product could be effective with only an annual treatment. Eight years ago, we moved into a new house in rural Hill County Texas, and
had a contractor build a new septic and its leach field.

Never having a septic system before, we soon learned there should be some maintenance of its field. We learned ‘yeast’ or ‘RidX’ must be used for its maintenance. We used plenty of these--sometimes more than once a month.

It followed the first year and a half, there developed an enormous and consistent stench. Depending on which way the wind blew, we lived with this bothersome smell. The smell usually ‘found’ us downwind from where we parked vehicles, or wherever when walking around the premises.

We remained ignorant as to what is wrong, or IS THIS CONDITION NORMAL?

Additionally the first year, we learned from rural residents how they have a separate drain running the water out from their washing machines--therefore not going into their septic. Not knowing the cause at first, we immediately plunged the toilets to make sure there were no obstructions in our drainage line, cleaned up and warned the kids to be sure the toilet stops running before leaving the bathroom. All seemed to be okay for about six weeks. Then, the situation almost repeated itself. Figuring something more was involved, we proceeded to locate our septic clean out pipe and discovered the inlet to the septic tank was obstructed. Called the experts to pump our tank. (We installed our septic system 20 years ago when we built our home and NEVER thought to have the tank pumped since we didn't encounter any problems. We have a family of eight using the system!) There was sludge in both chambers of the septic tank and the pumping service said our leach lines were probably ruined due to the passage of sludge into the lines. We were told that if in one week our tanks filled up and had to be pumped again, most likely we would have to have new leach lines installed for a cost of approximately $6,000. This is when we took an active role of learning, researching and investigating what options were available for us to rectify this problem as we felt there had to be a better solution out there for a lot less money. After many hours of searching and learning from information on the Internet, and talking to experts, we were certain there was a better solution, but where? We learned quickly, depending on who we spoke with, this is a business and pumping companies and/or septic engineers want to install new systems as this is their livelihood. Understood, yet from our perspective, why tear up or destroy a perfectly good system if it could be corrected in a much more economical and efficient way? This is where Flush It comes in. Our friend who lives in Santa Inez, CA told us he had similar septic problems and they found Flush It as a solution to their problem. We went to the web site and felt it was well worth it to buy the bacteria packs to see if it could correct our problem. (After all, what did we have to lose but a little bit more time to see if this would work as opposed to thousands of dollars for new leach lines - not to mention the mess and inconvenience of the construction!) I used FLUSH-IT once a month alternating between toilets and waiting for an hour or more after having flushed the packet down so that some of the bacteria stay in the traps. As a result, I don't have problems. On one occasion however, our bathtub wouldn't drain as quickly as it usually does. My septic system is forty five years old and needless to say I've had a lot of problems with it over the years. I live in a county where most of the soil is clay. We are living in NW Florida, Gulf Breeze. (Good sandy soil)
My problem started 2008 Mach. During the washing machine drain cycle the water was backing up in the bath tub. My lady just loves washing with the Eco-Smart machine set at the high level. I had the system pumped. The tanks were full but there was less than 12" of solids. The system was installed 1997 - old style 1000 gallons (no baffles).The drain started acting up again in Dec, 2008. I was concerned about the drain field. After searching the Internet for a solution your product draw my attention, Very promising ; also the price is great compared to some other products. I ordered a 12 pack. Added a total of 4 packs and there was some improvement. After further investigation I discovered the tank is alive. The level is OK, but the toilet paper is pulp backing up from the tank inlet. I cleaned the system. I ran an experiment - put some toilet paper in small closed jar with water and added some Flush-it. After three weeks the paper is almost dissolved. I will stick with your product.

I use Flush-It to save my septic system from an early demise. If it fails, I have to pay $6K to connect to our city's water & sewer system. This is a good motivator, since not only do I not want to pay bills for water moving to and fro, I would also miss drinking water from my wonderful well as the city only offers chlorinated water to drink. My husband and I moved into our lakeside home 10 years ago. It was a lifelong dream for both of us. A year after moving in, we started experiencing problems with our septic system. A "Slow" septic system.

Our septic tank used to back up, and needed to be pumped out, every year! This was due to the fact that the sewage line from our house to the tank does not have a steep enough pitch. Our sewage sort of slowly trickles into the tank, instead of rushing into the tank the way it is supposed to (thereby mixing and stirring the contents of the tank). One year, it even backed up during the winter, and we had to shovel through 3 feet of snow to uncover it so that it could be pumped out! Over the past 20 years, as the cost of pumping out the septic tank doubled from around $100 to over $200 each year, we were understandably desperate for a fix. We tried "Rid-X" every month (in fact twice each month) for a few years, but to no avail - it still backed up every year.
Two years ago, the company that pumps out our tank recommended trying your product, "FLUSH-IT", instead of using "Rid-X". They said another customer of theirs (that had a similar problem to ours), had success with your product, and that it was much less expensive than "Rid-X"! Sure enough, despite the small physical size of the "FLUSH-IT" packages, compared to the large (and more expensive) boxes of "Rid-X", our problem has been solved. Our septic tank now operates the way it is supposed to, and hasn't backed up yet! And, we are saving money each month, as well as not having to pump it out, for over $200, each year!

I can’t tell you why flush it works other than I don't have to hire a backhoe operator to clean out my septic tanks and have been living here for 10 years. The only thing I noticed was when I ran out, had not yet ordered replacement and noticed the grass over the lateral lines looked oddly strange with small streaks of green with brown grass in between and eventually became brown (it was the middle of August when grass turns totally brown). After I started using flush it again, the grass over the lateral lines once again turned a uniform green color. This is not the recommended way to grow a yard in the summer but certainly helps! I grew up in a fairly large town in Missouri in the sixties where some homes located there were still on septic tanks. We were, and that caused a lot of stress in our otherwise happy home!

My mother was always worried about our system not working, but in particular when the relatives from Arkansas visited for a week, and the seven kids had a fondness for using lots of toilet paper!

There seemed to be a stigma back then about septic tanks. My brother and I were told not to tell anyone we were still on a septic tank. I can recall Mom speaking quietly to my father in the Summer about the foul odor the system was emitting, and her concern that the neighbors would be suspicious and offended. Daddy would then drop in some yeast packets. I later learned, most of the neighbors were also on septic tanks. But, it was the sixties, and no one talked about such things!

When my husband and I decided to build a home in the country ten years ago, that was my one and only drawback. We will have to install one of those dreaded septic tanks! However, we read all we could on septic systems, and learned if we take good care of it with monthly treatments, unlike what my parents did, the system will always be there for us.

Hi Bill, I placed another order for Flush-it a little bit ago but I forgot to ask you for a couple of your booklets about Flush-it. At some point I intended to convert the system to aerobic, though the initial cost ($5,000) and upkeep ($300 per year) really didn't excite me.

Then I ran across FLUSH-IT. I wasn't all that enthusiastic because the website does not claim to cure drainfield problems. However, I had nothing to lose.

I initially applied one packet down the kitchen drain. Three days later our puddles were gone. We saw some dampness around the feeder end of the drainfield, but no more puddles even though we had two house guests.

On the 4th day I dropped a packet right in the septic tank secondary chamber, which we have access to as our system uses a pump to pressurize the drainfield. Three days later the damp area at the distribution end was larger and still no smell and no puddles.

Over the next two weeks I dropped the remaining 4 packets (we bought a 6-pack to start) right into the septic tank secondary chamber every three days and watched steady improvement. I am dosing twice a week rather than the recommended monthly application, because I want maximum results.

After 2 weeks we can't really tell if there is any further improvement. We no longer have any noticeable problems, even when I intentionally run all the faucets in the house for 3 hours.

I have ordered a 12 pack [of FLUSH-IT] and will dose directly into the septic tank secondary chamber (right before the drainfield) every 3 days until I run out. Then I will cut back to monthly.

We achieved results far beyond what the website claims.
